I spent hours reading/playing these and making maps. From 'The warlock of firetop mountain' which I believe was the first. These where the fantasy stories where'you are the hero', and had a choice of page number to turn to, which affected the outcome of the story, kind of. I remember quickly tiring of the D and D style dice rolling though, and alwasy used to skip the battles, assuming i'd won. It still seemed pretty hard to 'win' anyway, as 'bad luck' would normally see you fall to your death anyway. Best tip; Keep you finger in the previous page in case something bad happens ( no-one will know .)

They started reprinting these a few years back and they still have quite a following. I have 21 in my little collection, the oldest dating all the way back to 1983. Charity shops are a great source of old Fighting Fantasy books, usually in very good condition.
